Ha…gottcha with that one huh? Well, you know me and my stories, this one is no different, can only happen to me. Was doing my usual Antique browsing on Craigslist, when I came across

these stoneware crocks. Thought they were priced well, and right around the corner, so I contacted the seller, arranged time to pick them up ..oh yeah, talked him down another $20. Got to the house which was a old farm house with a HUGE barn filled with goodies (to be sold later I was told). I drove down the road to another barn, and saw the crocks…..great condition, but they are HUGE HUGE HUGE!!! I dont know what I was thinking DUH, a 20, 15 and 12 gallon crock will be huge. So, being the chicken that I am, and hating most confrontation, I bought them anyway . My son and I had to each take one end of the 20 gallon one they are sooo heavy. Now a challenge to all you wonderful decorators…What in the world am I to do with them? I brought the smallest inside to most likely fill with sticks and evergreen for the holidays.
The other two not so sure…I did like the big branch idea in CS this month, but will have to paint some branches to look like theirs, since we have none like that on our property.
Mr. Postman and my son both said “I told ya so”, they couldn't see why I would want them at all (little or big) …I do love them, but they are sooo huge. Any ideas ladies…cmon think of some original good ones for me :)
Ok, now ask me about the kitchen floor..go ahead…Is it done?? Why no, thank you very much..its not. Trim all needs to be done yet, and we purchased a new ceiling fan, and for some weird reason Postman's uncle said the wiring that was fine before, is now not working…..I thought this was an easy job.
I love the floor, its absolutely awesome!! It makes the kitchen look bigger and cleaner for some reason..here is a sneak peek for ya. I’ll post more when its complete.

These are the terrific items I received from Janet at Olde Crow Primitives. She sent me wonderful tarts, a bar of oatmeal soup(molded with a harvest scene and crow), some delicious candy….yes sir I cheated a bit on my diet, and some yummy jelly, all wrapped up so nicely in prim tissue paper with a lovely card..Thank You sooo much Janet!! Hope you like your swap items as much as I liked mine!!
Meanwhile, we are in the thick of homeschooling, which has been a challenge this year with Samuel and Grace both doing school, and Lily playing in the same room. We use the Abeka curriculum. We do the dvd program for Samuel and the live streaming for Grace. Samuel definitely needs me there every second or he will be up and into other things. Grace on the other hand is perfectly fine doing most of the video on her own except spelling and other harder things. She is only in K-4 so its alot of singing and phonics.
We are also in the process of revamping the entire website for our store, adding the earth rug line, and alot of new goodies (some yummy new beeswax tarts, and other holiday items too). This is such a tedious process, and I do this at night after the orders are filled , inventory done, and kids in bed for the day.
I feel like I’ve rambled…..hope ya stuck with me. Remember…suggestions about the crocks..can’t wait to see what y’all have for me!!!
God Bless,
Anne

Turn one crock into an end table with a glass or wooden top and a Christmas tree would look great in the other. :)
Your floors look great!

Anne - I love your crocks!! Lucky girl to have those. If you recycle then you could always use one as a recycle container and another for trash. Just put your bags in the crock and maybe make yourself some round lids for the top and VOILA. Possibilities are endless with those beauties!!
Your floors are absolutely beautiful.
Oh - I also had to tell you that I used Abeka cirriculum for quite a few years while I went to a private school. It was definitely more challenging then the public schools. I remember it like it was yesterday and to think that it was MANY MANY years ago (lol).
Take Care!
I use to have the large one and used it for a garbage can.I put a bag in of course. You can use one for your Christmas tree. If you have a fireplace put one on the hearth and put kindling in it. You can use it as a display at Christmas and have presents pouring out of one. If hubby or you are talented make a wooden lid and store dog/cat food in one.
oH YES i would be using that big boy for my Christmas Tree!! YOu could make some wood lids and hide stuff in them too. I would look at them as an investment because they dont go cheap!! OH I LOVE your floors, just beautiful!
We found a crock like yours in the attic of our very first house. I was so happy because my mother has quite a few of them! I have ours in our dining room with twigs, berries, etc. Looks really pretty.
If you do put a Christmas tree in the biggest one, please take a picture!!!
Love your floors!!! We will be getting our floors done in about a week or so. Can't wait either!!! Looks beautiful!!
Hi Anne, you can fill one of the larger ones with large pine cones and tuck in some tall twigs along with some berries, fir, pine or cedar branches. if you have a wooden Santa or snowman you can tuck him in and add some primitive silicone lights to it for the holiday season.Blessing, Leah
I'd make a lid and store pet food, wild bird seed, or other items like that in it - out of the way and disguised!
I have a large one that I use in my bathroom, with a bag liner..works out nice and my other big one I put my Christmas tree in...
Love your kitchen...the floor is very nice!
Can't wait to see what you do with your crocks...you were very lucky to get such big ones for a great price..I would have taken them too!!
Well, those crocks could always come to my house! LOL! (Wyoming). I have a 20 gal crock too. I rotate. I use it to put my blankets in that we use in the LR and sometimes I use it for magazines and I have even used it in the bathroom for towels. You can make wood lids though and use them for end tables etc. Jayne
Anne,
My first idea for the large crock would be to put a taller but not too tall slim alpine tree with lights for Christmas and wrap it up in a quilt hanging your favorite ornaments or some natural looking dried things.
I also think it would be great for firewood, holding blankets or extra towels in a guest bath. Seasonally, you can just add greenery and red berries then for the spring you could put tulips in it.
I love your new floor!

Love those crocks, you were very lucky to find those :)
Have a great weekend.
Janet
anne, we made lids for ours and use them to stash our goodies in. :)

you can stack them once the lids are on, which makes a pretty cool display. :)
love the flooring, we are in the process of looking for some.
Love your crocks and everyone has wonderful ideas for them :) Looking forward to see whatcha do now ;)
Your floors do look wonderful, Anne!! Don't ya just love that flooring...it does make a room look larger!
Have a great weekend.
Love those crocks and I would have bought all of them as well. I like the idea of using one to put your Christmas tree in. I also hope you'll post a picture if you do. Everyone's ideas are really great! I have a 20 gallon one that I put a large, viney house plant in.
Your kitchen floor looks so nice! Can't wait for more pictures of that too.
Hugs & blessings to you~ Birgit

I used to have a huge crock that I kept my collaging paper rolls in, too, but I love Deb's idea at Homespun even more. Good luck!
Your floor looks nice. Love your crocks, during Christmas use the 20 gallon and put your Tree on it. Using a glass or wood cover, you can used it as a table.
OMGosh the uses for these size crocks is endless.
We have the largest one - one our deck bench and it hold long stemed flowers for all seasons and ALWAYS hold a huge clump of birch twigs.
The only time they come out of there is Christmas when we put a tree in it - great use for that.
It's a wonderful use for childrens stuffed animals...but you have lots of suggestions here already.
Karen
